Winter is finally over and, after months of hibernation, it is finally time to spring-clean your wardrobe, body and soul. While I’m neither a green juice fan nor an exercise junkie, a spring detox—both physical and emotional—is something I find myself drawn to every March Equinox.
When I was growing up, March 8, International Women’s Day, was considered the start of spring and celebration of femininity —marked by the offerings of bright-yellow mimosa flowers to women of all ages. While researching this article, I realised that all three featured companies are cofounded and run by women—which made me even happier about my picks!
Spring-clean your wardrobe: Vestiaire Collective
Earlier this year, I have signed up to Vestiaire Collective—an online platform that helps to give luxury fashion a second life—and am a big fan already. From ‘old’ Céline to iconic Lagerfeld to up-and-coming designers, Vestiaire Collective makes it easy to refresh your wardrobe by selling your past flames online or shopping someone else’s fabulous closet. This of it as a global clothes swapping party. With two different styles and one entrepreneurial vision, Sophie Hersan and Fanny Moizant joined forces as two female co-founders of Vestiaire Collective back in 2009 and, ten years on, count over 7 million members in 50 countries.
A spring makeover for your skin: Sand & Sky
Founded by twin sisters Emily and Sarah Hamilton, Sand & Sky is an Australian botanical skincare brand that sources its ingredients from the continent’s unique flora, including Macadamia, Kakadu plum and Australian finger lime. Needless to say, all products are ethically made in Australia. After shooting to Instagram fame last year, they are now spreading healthy Australian lifestyle around the world through their online store. Your dull-looking skin will thank you for treating it with Sand & Sky’s Flash Perfection Exfoliator and the Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask.
Put a spring in your step: Little Bird Pilates
The only exercise I truly enjoy is gentle stretching and core body strengthening — a major tenet of Pilates. Being an office worker and a mum of two, I find it difficult to find time for regular exercise. That’s why when my local Little Bird Pilates studio founder Johdi offered an online subscription to her awesome real-life classes I was thrilled—finally I would be able to ease back into exercise in the comfort of my home.
Hope you enjoy these spring offerings and feel renewed and reenergised!
